Comins Pond, Warren, MA
Water for the Warren Water District is pumped from two wells located on the eastern shore of Comins Pond in Warren.
Unlike some communities that rely on reservoirs or surface water supplies, the District uses groundwater drawn from local aquifers beneath the area surrounding the pond.
The protection of these water sources is an important part of maintaining safe, reliable drinking water for the community.
After leaving the wells, water is routed to the treatment plant located at 250 Comins Pond Road.
At the facility, the water is filtered and treated to remove naturally occurring materials such as iron and manganese while meeting the operational and safety standards required by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
Treatment processes are carefully monitored to help ensure water quality and system reliability throughout the distribution network.
Once treated, water is pumped to the District’s storage tank off Southbridge Street.
From there, the system uses gravity and natural water pressure to distribute water throughout the Warren Water District to homes, businesses, and public facilities.

The Warren Water District regularly samples and tests both source water and treated water to ensure compliance with state and federal drinking water regulations.
